Welcome to Conway Elementary School — A Great Place to Learn! This is the message that each parent, child and visitor sees upon entering our building.
Our symbol is the lighthouse, and—as our mission statement reads—Conway is a beacon of learning. This intellectual growth extends to teachers as well as students. We, as educators, are continually learning how to best meet the needs of all of our students.
What makes Conway special?
- Conway is nationally recognized for its work in differentiation. Two books have been published about Conway—“The Differentiated School: Making Revolutionary Changes in Teaching” and “Learning and Differentiation at Work K-5.” The later contains nine differentiated lessons created by our teachers.
- Conway is also a Love and Logic School. All teachers and students are trained in the Conway principles: Be Safe, Be Kind, Be Positive, Be Respectful and Be Responsible.
- We are a National Blue Ribbon School and two-time Missouri Gold Star School.
- At Conway, our parent community plays an integral role in helping us reach our goals, continuing a valued partnership with our teachers and staff.
I have been with Ladue Schools since 1990. I was an assistant principal at Ladue Horton Watkins High School and have held the role of Conway Elementary School principal since 1995. I received my bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Spanish Literature from Hunter College in New York City and received a master’s degree in Reading from Manhattan College in New York City. My doctorate is in Reading from Arizona State University. I have taught at every level from elementary to college, and I love what I do. I have a son who lives in Miami, a granddaughter and grandson.
We look forward to welcoming you to our Conway Elementary community.
